Background

In this Module, we explored how organizational factors affected stakeholders′ IT adoption. In Unit 5, you explored how leadership, organizational, and cultural factors affect EHR adoption. In Unit 6, you explored a study by Najartorkaman et al that gives us 78 factors that could affect EHR adoption. These 78 factors should help you identify the themes of the sociotechnical issues you identify in a dimension.

For this week Case Analysis, you will begin to pull together all socio-technical issues in your case. Use the antecedents for EHR adoption in Najaftorkaman et al to review the sociotechnical issues that you have identified in your case thus far (Reading: Najaftorkaman, M., Ghapanchi, A. Case Analysis Instructions

By now, you should be pretty familiar with the case. In your introduction, define the goals for OpChart. Thinking about the analyses you have done in Modules 1 and 2, explore those goals with respect to WMB and RUMC. Then, using what you learned in this module, outline the social and organizational issues that are affected the organization′s readiness to meet your stated goal for OpChart.

The readings this week include tools that you can use to assess the organizational, leadership, social, and cultural factors in the work system. Use these tools to access the organizational AND stakeholder issues in the case. Discuss to what extent the organization did or did not meet the objectives and discuss how the social and organizational factors that you just reviewed and revised had on achieving the objectives.

Your analysis should demonstrate critical thinking and scholarly investigation and should be informed by peer-reviewed literature and referenced appropriately.

Case Analysis Requirements

You must submit your assignment in MS Word format.

The case study analysis should be 1,000 words, +/-250 words.

You must follow APA style rules for your case study analysis, including headings, citations, and references. Reference the APA Publication Manual or Purdue Owl for formatting and style requirements.

Required Assignment Format

The following sections should be Level 1 headings for your case study analysis. You may and probably should have Level 2 headings to organize your arguments within each section of the paper.

Introduction – This is where you describe the background and situation/problem presented in the case. Introduce, in your own words, the problem and situation presented in the case study.

Results/Analysis – This is where you narrate the findings of your analysis and describe how you made your decision about what to analyze. Write up your analysis of the case, using section headers and supportive references as appropriate. You will need Level 2 heading here too.

Discussion – Discuss the interpretation of your results and analysis. For this case study analysis, you might discuss how the dimensions′ characteristics did or did not match to create success or failure.

Conclusion – Summarize your findings in this section.
