At the late eighteen century in Europe different revolutions where taking place, there was no single or rationale main reason behind the developments of these revolutions, they were the result of a number of social and economic changes and political crises that where happening in Europe in that time.
In the 18th century there was a great economic and social inequality between people. There were the upper classes such as the nobility and the clergy who were the owners of most of the land and who obtained the most benefits both socially and economically such as the exception of direct taxes and there was the lower class such as the poor farmers and rural workers who were the majority of the population. In addition to this there was inflation in food and housing prices due to the increase in population which made the majority of the population poorer while the upper class became richer through commerce and manufacturing
Some new ideas that appeared in this time were the demands for freedom and equality. The fight for freedom sought the removal of censorship, to allow free worship and this also represented a change of government seeking a government that truly represented the people. the people who supported this cause were nicknamed liberals. While equality asked that all people no matter what their birth position was should have same level of rights and liberties.
There were also important events that precipitated the revolution such as the seven years war. this war took place in central Europe, India and north America in which different regions sought to expand and gain more territorial and economic dominance. the two main actors were England and France, with England ending up as the European power and France as the loser but retaining its colonies in the Caribbean.

The age of enlightenment was a philosophical movement of specific ideals in Europe that dominated the world in the eighteenth century. The enlightenment movement advocated such ideals like “liberty, progress, tolerance, fraternity, constitutional government, and separation of church and state”. This movement took hold in most European countries with a specific local emphasis. The cultural exchange during this movement ran between certain European countries and across the Atlantic which spiked social results in both continents. During the eighteenth century, there were two distinct lines of thought in the age of enlightenment. This first thought is radical enlightenment which advocates “democracy, individual liberty, freedom of speech, and eradication of religious authority”. The second thought is a more moderate variety that seeks accommodation between reform and traditional systems of power and faith. The age of enlightenment brought political and intellectual modernization to western Europe. The age of enlightenment created revolutions especially in Great Britain in France who fought in the seven years war. The Seven Years War sparked the start of revolutions because European countries wanted to have the sense of power over colonies like Great Britain and France wanting to control the colonies in the Americas and India.
