GLB-WA9
Answer each of the following questions on the responsibilities of global citizenship. Your answer to each item should be an essay of 250 to 300 words in length. (With a typical font and spacing, this comes to between 1 and 1½ pages.) It is recommended that you refer to outside sources as you consider these issues. Be sure to document your sources correctly.
GLB-final
The seven global challenges have been examined independently in the previous modules. Now, in a final project, you will summarize how these trends are related to each other and will integrate your knowledge and activities.
In this final project, you will be asked to synthesize different parts of your own previous work as well as to integrate your work with the work of others. You will accomplish this in a paper of 2000 to 2500 words (with a typical font and spacing this will be approximately 8 to 10 pages). Your paper should consist of three sections:
In the first section you will integrate your understanding of your own global villager with an understanding of other villagers.
In the second section you will analyze two global issues in context and examine the connections between them. You will also consider how the issues would be experienced by different global villagers.
Finally, in the third section, you will take what you have learned and describe how these gains have changed you as a global citizen.
Your paper should be well developed and convey your understanding of the concepts studied in this course. When referring to sources, be sure they are properly cited and referenced, using either APA or MLA formatting consistently. Finally, your paper should be organized, coherent, and unified; it should also be free of spelling and grammatical errors. If you need help in writing such a paper, take a look at The Writing Center: University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In Lessons 1 through 9 you were asked to write about one person in the global village, describing this individual in Lesson 1 and then telling how this particular person was affected by each of the seven global challenges in Lessons 2 through 8. You were asked to comment on the human rights of this villager in Lesson 9.
Throughout this course you have been asked to look at the world from the perspective of the person you represent in the global village. What is the nature of your personal worldview, and how do you think it is like or different from that of the person you represent in the global village?
Please review the global villager postings of two students who represent individuals in two continents other than the one in which your villager resides (for example, if your villager was from Asia, you could select one other person from Africa and one from Europe). In some detail, tell how your global villager is both similar to and different from the other two villagers that you reviewed.
This course has asked you to examine closely a variety of issues that affect people all over the globe.
Choose just one of the global issues you have been writing about, and describe the historical context of this issue. Then explain how this issue is experienced differently in two separate parts of the world. How is it experienced by your global villager and the two others you reviewed in section 1?
Identify two global issues and describe how each of these issues impacts you now and how each may impact you in 2030.
Analyze the relationship between the two issues you just identified. How does each one affect the other? Be specific, referring to outside sources as needed.
This course has asked you to explore your role as a global citizen .
Taking Action ActivityWhat was the nature of your Taking Action activity? In what ways, if any, was this activity related to thinking globally about a preferred future related to a global issue and acting locally to help create that preferred future? How does it relate to the goals of the course?
Globally Competent CitizenshipIn the introduction to this course, its general goal and objectives were described. Please look at the twelve knowledge, skill, and attitude objectives (characteristics) for the course and then:
Identify the two objectives that are relative strengths for you as a globally competent citizen. Provide an analysis of your choices.
Identify the two objectives where you are relatively weak at this point. Discuss the reasons for selecting these objectives (characteristics).
Identify the three most important things that you learned about specific global issues (revolutions like technology or information or themes within a revolution such as immigration, food and hunger, water, or climate change) while you were in this course.
Identify the two most important skills related to global issues that you learned (or enhanced) while you were in this course.
Identify the two ways in which your attitudes toward global issues may have changed while you were in this course.
Finally, describe actions that you could take that could have a positive impact on international relations
