Individually students will be required to develop a position statement related to a specific topic that clearly demonstrates applicable standards of practice within the nursing profession. The Criterion referenced rubric for this assessment (page 15 Unit outline). Topics will be chosen from a list provided on LEO.

Information contained in the statement should clearly demonstrate the student’s perspective, supported by current relevant evidence and reflect current policy and practice within Australian Nursing with clear reference and linkage to the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia Nursing Competencies for Registered Nurses.

Students are required to submit via the Turnitin Dropbox in the Assessment Block in LEO. Multiple submissions can be made up until the due date for the assessment. Please note that there can be a 24-48 hr lock out period between each submission. Once the due date is passed you will not be allowed to resubmit. Extensions must be submitted at least three (3) days prior to the due date.
Position Statement Topics

Module 1. Advances in Health informatics and telemedicine are providing greater access to healthcare resources. Discuss the role of the Registered Nurse in improving access to healthcare in rural and remote areas.
Module 2. Nurses need to recognise and report resource risks that may compromise quality patient care. Develop a position statement to examine the role of the registered nurse in relation to appropriate use of healthcare resources.
Module 3. “Reflective Practice plays an essential role in nursing practice”. Develop a position statement aIDressing the contribution of reflective practice in health care setting.
