Tires Replacement with Hazard Presentation I want you to make slides based on the word document below, add pictures to it and i want simple no colors so slides can be clear Preperation
1. Acquire proper maintenance manuals
2. Gather the proper tools for the job (needle nose pliers, ratchet, sockets, torque wrench,
grease, valve core removal tool, air compressor)
3. Gather proper PPE (latex gloves, safety glasses, work gloves)
4. Gather applicable parts needed for the job (tire,tube)
5. Read and understand the steps and all warnings/cautions listed in the manual for changing a
tire.
Removal
1. Jack aircraft until wheels are off of ground.
Hazards- airplane may become unleveled and fall, jack could fail, and fingers can get caught in
the jack safety ring.
2. Remove hub cap, cotter pin and axle nut.
Hazards-cotter pin may be sharp and could cut you
3. Remove bolts and washers attaching brake back plate to brake cylinder and remove back plate.
Hazards- Backing plate could fall and injure you.

Remove valve core and deflate tire. Break tire beads loose from wheel rims.
Hazards- if valve core is removed to fast the valve core may become projectiled by the air
pressure coming out of the tire. Serious Injury can also result from attempting to separate wheel
halves with the tire inflated. Avoid damaging wheel flanges when breaking tire beads loose. A
scratch, gouge, or nick may cause wheel failure.
5. Remove thru bolts and separate wheel halves. Removing tire, tube, and brake disc.
Hazards- All air must be evacuated from the tire before attempting to separate wheel halves. If
air pressure is present catastrophic failure may result causing injury or death to personnel near
the wheel.
Installation
1. Insert thru bolts through brake disc and position disk in the inner wheel half, using thru
bolts to guide the disk. Confirm that the disc is bottomed in the wheel half.
Hazards-Fingers can be pinched in between the backing plate and the wheel half.
2. Position new tire and tube on outboard wheel half with the tube inflation valve through
hole in wheel half.
Hazards- dropping the wheel on yourself may cause serious injury.
3. Place the inner wheel half in position on outboard wheel half. Apply a light force to bring
wheel halves together. While maintaining the light force assemble a washer and nut on one
thru-bolt and tighten snug. Assemble the remaining washers and nuts on thru bolts and
torque to value stipulated in the manual.
Hazard- uneven or improper torque of thru bolt nuts can cause failure of bolts, with
resultant wheel failure. Fingers can be pinched in wheel halves or between the tire and
wheel.
4. Clean and pack bearing cones with clean aircraft wheel bearing grease.
Hazards- Solvent and grease could contact on your skin, eyes, or mouth and cause allergic
reaction or damage to organs.
5. Assemble bearing cones, grease seal felts, and rings into wheel halves.
Hazards- Risk of injuring hands or fingers
6. Inflate tire to seat tire beads, then adjust to correct tire pressure.
Hazards- Tire bead seating can be very fast and violent. Keep hands clear of bead.
