Topic: Analyze the short story with a focus on three themes to critically examine. Quote from the text to support your analysis of the literature (short story). Develop a strong logical and direct thesis sentence (place it at the end of the first paragraph (Introduction).

The short story is the only source for the, six-page critical analysis essay. And that source must be cited in MLA format on the Work Cited. Which is the last page of the essay (source is in alphabetical order with the author’s last name first beginning at the margin). Students must quote from the short story and cite the quotations (use up to 4 in the text of your essay in MLA format, for example (Poe 12). The quote supports the analysis provided by student.

The essay is typed in double space MLA FORMAT throughout the entire essay.

12 Font for the type, and Times Roman for the style. There is no bold type used in MLA FORMAT, or underline, or italic except for Book, Film, Journal titles, a short story is put in quotation marks.

The introduction paragraph (the first paragraph of your essay introduces the essays main ideas and are in the thesis sentence (The thesis sentence is the last sentence of the introduction paragraph (The thesis sentence is the main ideas of the essay and what the writer (the student will analysis, exam, and critically discuss, throughout the body paragraphs of the paper), the conclusion (the last paragraph of the essay) will restate the findings of the analysis.

Remember: Contraction words, such as (don’t, didn’t, it’s, doesn’t etc.) are not used in formal academic writing.

No Study Guides of any kind are to be used for this essay to support your analysis or used as a source. I am interested in your critical thinking and writing skills not theirs.

5-page essay; 4 full pages of content page 5 is the Works Cited

Please do not have a page long paragraph. A complete paragraph is at least five to eight complete sentences.

Quote to support your thesis argument. Make sure to provide in-text citation for quotes. Do not over quote. Quotes are not in italics they must be in the same type as the entire essay.

There is a 1-inch margin for the entire paper. And indent (TAB each paragraph 3 or 5 spaces only.
