1. The name of the metal and its symbol in the Periodic Table. If the symbol is
not a direct abbreviation of the metal’s name, explain how this symbol was
chosen.
2. Who discovered the metal? When? Where?
3. What were the earliest uses of the metal or its chemical compounds?
4. What is the source of the metal today? Where are its ores located?
5. How is the metal used today? Give examples of products that use this metal.
6. How much does the United States consume each year? What is the current
price? Use customary units such as dollars/ton, dollars/ounce, cents/pound, etc.
7. What does the future look like for this metal? Are there adequate supplies or is
it becoming rarer and potentially more expensive?
Format:
Use only 12 point font, 1” margins all around, double-spaced text. The first page
is a cover sheet with the name of the metal, your name, date and section number. Include
a separate bibliography / works cited page showing all resources used. You must have at
least two different sources. Use either APA format for citing sources in bibliography.
The text of the paper should not exceed three pages. Thus, with a cover sheet and
bibliography a total of 5 pages is the maximum size.
