For this assignment you are required to write a brief report using an Evidence Based Case Formulation from a case you worked with in practice. You will compare this Formulation to the use of the Mental State Examination (MSE) in practice and come to a judgement about your preference (Clinical Formulation or MSE)

As with an essay, you will only be able to determine the structure of your report when you’ve identified your key message in your report. Therefore you need to plan before you begin writing. Reports are generally more formally structured than essays, so as well as identifying and organising the main themes, you will need to rationalise these into sections such as in this assignment guide. Bear in mind that although a marker will read your entire report, other readers wouldn’t necessarily do so, perhaps just reading the abstract, findings and/or conclusion instead.

The Abstract or Summary: This should be a very brief synopsis or summary of what you are going to present (75-100) words.

Introduction and Case Specifics: introduce your report and provide a brief review about what is known about your case via an included in the text Formulation and written MSE outline (150-200) words

Results and Findings: Present your findings in detail about the case via the above Case Formulation and the MSE (300 words)

Discussion and Analysis – compare, contrast and evaluate these two approaches. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? (300 words)

Conclusion and Recommendations present some recommendations about your preferred approach to client assessment here in the UAE. Present some recommendations about your Professional Development in the context of this model. (150 words)
