| 4. What learning needs does the older adult have? Does need technological teaching for her smartphone ex needs help learning how to use apps on smartphone devices | 0.1 | |
| 5. What method would be appropriate for addressing these learning needs? If no learning need identified, what learning needs may they have in the future? Teaching her how to use apps that are beneficial to her in her spare time ex showing her how to text on Whatsapp (social smartphone app) so she can contact family via text instead of constant phone calls, which can be missed occasionally | 0.1 | |
| 6. What, if any, safety risks did you identify for the older adult? Did the older adult verbalize the same risks? Can be a fall risk occasionally because of her slow shuffled gait however she does not view risk as threatening because shuffled gait is not a regular issue for her | 0.1 | |
| 7. What lessons did you learn? Learned that my grand-mother is resilient in that in her old age with all her complications she still is able to live healthy meaningful life with no physical disabilities which gives me hope that old-age does not mean I can’t live a meaningful life while dealing with Chronic health issues. | 0.1 | |
| 8. What surprised you most from this experience? How much chronic health issues I learned my grandmother has, I knew she was a long-time diabetic but her cholesterol and glaucoma issues I did not know about until now | 0.1 | |
| 9. How did your personal assumptions/beliefs about older adults change? If they did not change, how were they reinforced? I now believe older adults who may suffer from the same chronic illness don’t all suffer the same fate. I work with a lot of geriatric patients who suffer from the same chronic illnesses as my grandmother who are either the same age or maybe younger than my grandmother however they face a lot of physical ailments that cause them to miss out on daily life, I now believe that I may not suffer the same fate as my grandmother gives me confidence that as long as I take good care of my health, take medications as prescribe, and stay physically active in my community I can live a meaningful life even in old age. | 0.1 | |
