Annotations #1: Feinstein, N. W., & Kirchgasler, K. L. (2015). Sustainability in science education? How the Next Generation Science Standards approach sustainability, and why it matters? Science Education, 99(1), 121-144.
In this paper, the authors explore the importance of sustainability in science. He describes how science can be useful in ensuring accountability for the next generation within the education sector. As a result, he identifies three themes that may be useful in ensuring accountability within the educational system. They include technocentrism, scientism, and universalism. These themes have been critically important in ensuring ecological modernization, which is useful in providing solutions to global problems affecting humans. The study argues that students that think of the importance of sustainability will not be able to consider its ethical and political significance. In this regard, the study recommends that there is a need to balance the needs of all stakeholders within the education sector by integrating science that may be useful in dealing with sustainability problems. In summary, the paper provides that there is a need for systematic collaboration among social studies and science educators, which will be critical in ensuring ideal preparation in dealing with future challenges regarding the sustainability within the education sector.
Annotations #2: Guffey, S. K., Slater, S. J., p Schleigh, S., Slater, T. F., & Heyer, I. (2016). Surveying geology concepts in education standards for a rapidly changing global context. Contemporary Issues in Education Research (CIER), 9(4), 167-188.
It explores how attention to the scientific concepts that teachers are disseminating to students in schools. These ideas are vital in enabling children to be competent in the global economy in the current times. Science education is an essential factor that is being useful in schools. It allows children to understand significant changes that are occurring all over the universe. The paper also provides economic geology essential for the world economy. It is because it is useful in guiding research about future predictions, which helps in understanding environmental geology. As a result, policymakers will know more about how human activities are affecting land, as well as other geological domains. It is the reason why children get to learn the geological concepts in schools. The study is limited and, thus, must be supplemented with other studies. It is because, in the U.S, there is a universal curriculum that may be useful in carrying out a comparative analysis of the geological issues. Thus, in summary, there is a need for the establishment of a comprehensive curriculum within the U.S education system. Also, there is a need for carrying further research to determine the role of policymakers in providing an appropriate curriculum on education science.

Annotations #4: Nye, B. D. (2015). Intelligent tutoring systems by and for the developing world: A review of trends and approaches for educational technology in a global context. International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education, 25(2), 177-203.
This article provides how information and community technology is expanding in developing countries. It is because learning more about technologies is critically important in enhancing and supplementing the inefficient systems of education. In the past decennium, ITS (intelligent tutoring systems) offers learning opportunities for students in the industrialized nations. In the current times, the ITS has been useful in supporting education in developing countries. In this regard, the purpose of this paper reviews the barriers that are affecting the adoption of intelligent tutoring systems in developing nations. The primary focus of the ITS has always to deal with the implications affecting the educational opportunities among learners. ITS has ever been useful in mapping the economic and geographical landscapes. Therefore, it is possible to determine the specific places where ITS learning is likely to occur.
After analyzing the challenges for the ITS systems, the article is offering solutions to these barriers. The obstacles that have been known to affect the ITS system include lack of computing skills, costs of data, power problem, lack of efficient infrastructural development, language, and socio-cultural factors. These barriers are prone to selection biasness when the researchers are using the ITS system in the classroom to meet the learning requirements. Because of this, there is an understatement of the barrier that is affecting the classroom learning. Similarly, the issues about implementing the use of technology in the classrooms have always been considered as implementation details.
This study was limited to the fact that various studies have been carried on one site. In this regard, it is almost challenging to collect data. The study has to employ the use of other studies. Therefore, supplementation of the literature is critical for the completion of the survey. It will ensure that there is no underreporting of the issues revolving around ITS. The paper then considers several variations that exist between the developing and industrialized nations.
In summary, the paper concludes by providing future direction and opportunities that can be useful in ensuring that increased education and tutoring systems. In this regard, it suggests that there has been an increased use of the ITS system in developing nations. There are changes in ITC in developing countries, which can be useful in addressing some of the barriers experienced by the establishment of the ITS systems.
For recommendation, it is critical to significant issues that exist when targeting a new project. In this regard, it is essential to put the advancement of mobile phones into consideration. It is because mobile phones have not entirely penetrated in most regions in the developing nations (21% coverage in developing countries). Also, most users are not connected to a stable internet even if they have managed to purchase phones. Secondly, it is critically important for researchers to avoid using aggregate numbers when carrying out the study because of the ITS.
