Health Web Quest

Purpose and Task

The goal of teaching is to develop students who are fair-minded, objective, committed to clarity and accuracy in what they read, and capable of using the appropriate technology tools to help them learn. The purpose of designing a WebQuest Activity is to foster students’ beginning research capabilities for looking up important concepts, topics, or ideas central to extend their understandings of your subject matter. Your task is to design Internet-focused questions that will require your students to locate information on a variety of websites to explain, illustrate, or support ideas explored in health related topics.

Directions(PAGE 1)

Determine which health related topics based on grade level.
Identify at least one primary topic with subtopics to explore.
Describe the following information in a word doc to precede the WebQuest:
Subject Area/Grade Level(Third Grade)
Topic/Concept (Healthy Eating Habits) Interdisciplinary instruction
Interdisciplinary Subjects (health, technology, English, etc)
For example, proper grammar and sentence structure could be a way to incorporate English into this assignment.

Chapter Title/Pages
Construct a WebQuest activity that includes the following components:
Introduction: Provide a convincing purpose statement for requiring students to conduct the WebQuest and capture their interest as you convince them of its importance.
Task: Describe the end result of the students’ searching, and explain the tools they will need to use to conduct their WebQuest.

Directions: Explicitly state the steps to be followed for conducting the search. Explain how, where, when, and with whom the students will search the Internet to answer the search questions.
WebQuest Questions: Include at least SIX appropriate search questions with links to the Internet about the topic that will lead students to multiple web sites for information. Provide a space for students to record the information they seek.
Conclusion: Summarize for the students what they have accomplished through their WebQuest; and ask them to provide any additional information they found about the topic through their searches (e.g., additional web sites worth looking at).
