EXPLORATION / REFLECTION PAPER

1. The purpose of this paper is to examine the issues of crisis burnout, vicarious traumatization and compassion fatigue. Define each term, symptoms, and issues or concerns to watch out for, and the various environments they arise. What needs to be put in place as preventative measures and what will you do personally as a counsellor for self-care?
2. Read Chapter 16 in Crisis Intervention Strategies for information or look up relevant articles. You may also interview someone who has experienced one of these situations or you can share your personal experience (only if you feel comfortable to do so).
3. Grading will take into account the quality with which you respond to each item in terms of consistency, clarity and reflection.
4. Submit paper, typed, double-spaced and follow APA format, including title page and references. The finished length is limited to 6 pages (not including title page or references).
