Week 4 Discussion “Institutions”
Based on the lecture and Webtext materials, address the following:
Every country in the world is constructed around the same set of institutional frameworks that differ only in how governments manage them. Identify the specific components of an institution.
1) TO DO! Next, use at least ONE EXAMPLE of institutions from at least ONE of the two countries you have selected for the Week 8 assignment such as a financial system, a judicial system, or the armed forces to illustrate what developing countries overall have done to weaken or strengthen such institutions. NOTE! In order to get credit for this section of the discussion, you MUST provide at least one current reference (no older than five years). Again class, this section of the discussion requires more than a two or three sentence response.
2) TO DO! Please respond to at least one (1) post from your peers.
3) WEEK 4 INSTRUCTOR INSIGHTS: REQUIRED
Class, as we move into our discussions of institutions in Week 4, we must realize that there is one constant in the world–and that is CHANGE. As countries developing countries face their futures, they too are faced with change. The way formal institutions have been traditionally viewed are changing, even as developing countries expand deeper into technologies and embrace a more universal view of social, economic and political beliefs. Please view this short video and share your thoughts.

RE: Week 4 Discussion “Institutions”
Professor and class,
Since Egypt is one of the countries I chose, I decided to look at some things about the judicial system. It is a combination of Islamic (Shariah) Law and Napoleonic Code., brought on by Napoleon’s stay in Egypt. They have the Egyptian Civil Code of 1948 (ECC). That is the main source of legal rules. Their Parliament is unicameral (having one legislative branch). It includes both religious and secular courts.
I found a reference in regards to Egyptian Law : Mark, J.J. (2017, October 03) Balance & the Law in Ancient Egypt. Ancient History Encyclopedia. Retrieved from https:// www.ancient.eu/article/1126/
I watched the video on World Economic Forum on Latin America 2018. I tried to pick-up on some things. They mentioned that there is a transformative vision. Things like getting the trust of the people. Concentrating on subjects like tax reform. I also heard the words having an “agenda of values”.
