At the age of 6, he began living with his maternal grandparents because his mother worked nights at a bar. He has been employed as a laborer for three different companies with his longest term of employment being eight months. He was terminated from two of these jobs for absenteeism. He has a GED. The defendant has acknowledged prior thoughts of suicide. He began smoking marijuana in high school and reported using cocaine and methamphetamine. The defendant is not married and has no children.
