Help me study for my English class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

DQ 4 covers two texts that have very different styles, but they both address a similar topic: culture. Both Momaday’s and Mason’s texts focus on the author’s cultures and can, in turn, allow us to create a more general understanding of how people can reflect on their own cultures. During this assignment, we will practice comparing and contrasting readings in a manner similar to our essays (though on a smaller scale).

For today’s discussion question, respond to the following prompts.

Using Momaday’s “The Way to Rainy Mountain” & Mason’s “Being Country” , complete the following:

• Compare and contrast how the two authors discuss culture. What about culture do the authors present? Integrate two quotations from each text in this section.
• Compare and contrast the authors’ purposes. For example, do the authors simply want to inform, persuade, or entertain the readers? Be sure to explain why you feel the author has that particular purpose. Use at least one quotation from each text in this section.

Make sure to use signal phrases and correct in-text citations. Also, be sure to employ the block or alternating organizational methods to structure your response.

Your response should be clear, developed, and progressive, meaning that it adds depth to the discussion. Often times, it’s great to respond to the assigned prompt using examples from the texts or materials and then end with one or two questions of your own to help add to a running conversation.
