Lifespan Psychology Project

Initiate the steps required for a major piece of research writing.

Effective research writing requires a step-by-step process of deciding on a topic, gathering appropriate resources, crafting an outline, and then writing at least one draft before the final “product.”

The purpose of this activity is to research a topic for this week that will be the first step of present your findings in a research paper due in the last week. Each week will be a step towards creating the Final Project. (See Final Project Guidelines.) By the end of Week 5, you will write a five-page, double-spaced paper, not including resources or title page, adhering to APA format. You must use five scholarly references of which one may be your textbook. Websites like Wikipedia or psychology.about.com are not scholarly sites. Use Discovery Services in our Maxwell Library to obtain resources.

You may choose your topic. Your topic may be anything discussed in your text. Some great topics include: “Where Piaget went wrong: Reevaluating the Sensory Motor stage,” “Wisdom, Meanings in the Scribbles of Children”, “Eating Disorders in Adolescents”, etc.

Week One Progress Expectations
Since this is the first week, your efforts should reflect an exploration of possible topics as well as a confirmation that you are aware of how to use Discovery Services for sources.

Write up several paragraphs about topics you are exploring as well as a statement that you know how to use Discovery Services. Submit this first draft for feedback and guidance.
