Article Summary
The author discusses the future of the hospitality industry and the supporting industry like
aviation and tourism. Hospitality is an industry where human presence is required. However, due
to the lockdown, the number as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, human movement and
interaction has been minimized. If the hotels and other businesses that work in the hospitality
want to keep doing business they must develop new methods of creating a friendly environment
for customers. Dewan says that one way that hoteliers can use to ensure that they remain in
business even after the pandemic has ended is using contactless technology in such activities as
making payments, opening doors and flushing the toilet. These actions can be achieved by
wireless rings for payment or speech and gestures for such things as closing the door or flushing
the toilet.
