MKT 4468 Troy University Advertisement & International Ads Discussion Post A
Advertising of different kinds is done all over the world and sometimes it can look very different than what we usually see. Some examples are below.
An interesting piece of promotional work by the US advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather for Salta brand beer in Argentina involved replacing rugby players missing teeth with implanted beer bottle openers. Web link for the story is here (Links to an external site.).
Promotional work for McDonalds by the French advertising agency Publicis Groupe used a Drive-Thruck (Drive-Thru Truck) to create greater awareness and buzz. Web link for that story is on the web page here (Links to an external site.).
1. Visit the websites of three global advertising agencies. Links to some of these top international ad agencies are available here (Links to an external site.) and here (Links to an external site.). View some of their creative work. Try to view an advertisement for “Your Country.”
2. Find an advertisement that has been developed for another country than your own for a branded product (or a product with which you are familiar). Include the web link to that ad in your post. Explain what promotional message you think the advertiser is trying to convey.
3. Describe the ad and discuss several ways in which you think it and/or its promotional effort was customized to the culture of that country.
Post B
1. Review some of the advertisements submitted by your peers in Post A.
2. Discuss how well you think your peers advertisement would work in the United States. Justify your thinking.
3. Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) proposes that various tools in the promotion mix can be used to reinforce a promotional message. Use your peers advertisement you discussed above.
