Directions: Write a C,E,W,E,W,C.S. paragraph taking a stance about the following question.
Based on the allegorical nature of this text, what does Aslans character tell readers about
Christ?
Support with at least two integrated, cited quotes.
Paragraph Requirements: Your essay will be a single detailed paragraph.
Craft a clear claim that doesnt just identify that Jesus and Aslan correlate, but that tells
how they correlate.
Support the claim with two pieces of integrated, quoted evidence from The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe. Make sure that your evidence supports your claim. Also, make sure
that it is substantial enough to analyze.
Dissect and analyze each piece of quoted evidence in your warrant to discuss how it
the claim. Focus on specificsspecific ideas, specific images, specific language devices,
specific syntax, specific diction. Clearly analyze how and why the aspect of Aslan points
to Christ. You will also need to be sure that you can specifically reference a verse from
the Bible to match that piece of evidence and explain it.
End with a concluding statement that makes a conclusion and expands on the focus of your
analysis.

In the Beginning
Background: Jen Murtagh explains in her article on creation that it
is in the nature of humans to wonder about the unknown and search
for answers. At the foundation of nearly every culture is a creation
myth that explains how the wonders of the earth came to be. These
myths have an immense influence on people’s frame of reference.
They influence the way people think about the world and their place
in relation to their surroundings. Despite being separated by numerous
geographical barriers many cultures have developed creation myths
with the same basic elements.
Task: Write a creative narrative that tells your story as a newly created person, creature, or
animal on newly created universe. Write with strong diction that involves five (or more) senses.
Here are a few things to consider and address:
Do you have a relationship with the deity/creator?
Are you alone or in a community?
What were you created from?
What does the creation around you look like?
Do you have any responsibilities in this world?
What is the relationship between animals and humans?
Has sin entered the world? How do you know?
Are you facing any threats?
What emotions are you feeling? (Fear, wonder, excitement, etc.)
What do you see? Hear? Taste? Touch? Smell? *weave these throughout your story
