Main discussion should be 500 words max The Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is a set of programmed systems
which basically integrates both the external and internal information
management within the entire organization (Pavel & Evelyn, 2017). The
importance of the ERP systems in any given firm is to facilitate continuous
information flow across all the activities inside the organizational boundaries
as well as managing the business connections to the other stakeholders
outside the business.
In today’s highly changing world with the advancement of virtualization and
cloud technologies, IT infrastructure’s networks are under immense
pressure. Networking industries are evolving frequently to keep up with the
new challenges of focusing more on software rather than traditional methods
of hardware speeds and feeds. Two main emerging trends in enterprise
network applications are stated below.
Cloud computing is a well-known technology and it is used in the process of
utilizing the remote server network which is hosted on the internet to
manage process or store data. In this, the data is not stored on the local
server; data is stored on the cloud servers depending on the requirement of
the organization. Cloud is mainly divided into three categories Public, Private
and Hybrid. Public cloud is the cheapest as it is shared over the internet via
Web applications or Web browsers from an off-site third-party service
provider. Private is an internal cloud over private networks made exclusively
for one client giving full control of data, security, and service. Hybrid is the
blend of private and public cloud and most popular. With the growth of
hybrid cloud; companies are looking for help with connectivity between their
private and public clouds. A company may want to reduce its cloud provider
costs. So, technology from vendors such as Nuage Networks automates the
connectivity between a company’s on-premises data center and its public
cloud resources.
The other important aspect of the modern-day enterprise network
applications is the automation. This has a very high impact on the cloud
networking. Because the cloud is evolving, and all the organizations are
looking to use a better network connectivity to integrate the client and user
versions of cloud. Having said that, but this involves with a lot of cost. First
thing is to set up enterprise wide cloud at an organizations data center and
then integrate this with the client version of the cloud. But there are some
third-party vendors in the market who provide the capability of integration
at a very low cost (Ravi et al, 2019).
The concept of the enterprise network applications has an enormous impact
on the analytics. For the smooth running of the activities in my company,
ERP will help in streamlining all the activities and by this, it will improve the
relationship of the customers and the internal environment of
communication within the business. The analytics world is trying to use a
cloud-based solution which in turn will have a huge dependency on the
enterprise network. The big data analytics are booming up and these in turn
use the network infrastructure to capture and process the data. These
networking applications may be further used to communicate data which is a
most important aspect for analytics. (Savage, 2017).
Mobility, collaboration, flexibility, scalibility and efficiency are few
advantages of ERP. It also boosts productivity in the business where with
data on hand it is easy to establish different ways of getting more work to be
done for fewer efforts. Secondly, ERP ensures that better financial decisions
and regulations which involves getting deeper financial insights that are
important for the entity in establishing whether certain projects will be
beneficial or not. It is also possible to determine the expenses at the time of
starting the project. Furthermore, ERP is important in improving customer
relations with the company by providing automated reports, connections to
consumers ‘dashboards and can also improve transparency and add value
for the clients.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) can be referred to as software packages or systems specially
programmed to manage company’s daily operations such as finance and accounting, manufacturing,
project management, procurement, human resource among many others. ERP software packages
connect and enable data flow from one department to the other within a company (Candra, 2011).
With its ability to integrate all other systems in a company, ERP systems eradicate duplication of
data hence promoting data integrity with a single source of truth.
ERP systems are implemented in all businesses regardless of their size or nature of work (Demi &
Haddara, 2018). In the modern world, ERP is one of the critical systems that is becoming
indispensable for a company to survive in the current market. ERP systems are designed
considering the simplicity of its operations and employees’ friendliness with a defined data structure
with a common database. It then utilizes common constructs, users’ experiences and definitions to
provide access to the company’s data from numerous operations.
Advantages of ERP
Improved efficiency. Company’s employees can work from a centralized system with minimal
movement and real-time information sharing and data transfer from one department to the other.
It has improved company insights. ERP systems make it possible for the company to generate realtime reports creation. Additionally, it eliminates silos and promotes fast responses to mission-critical
company’s inquiries.
It has also reduced operational cost. ERP systems promote streamlined business processes hence
reducing unnecessary expenses incurred may be in the process of information delivery or internal
and external communication of a company.
It also enhances collaboration within an organization. This is achieved through data sharing in
requisitions, contracts, and purchase orders.
Additionally, ERP reduces operations risks since the process promotes data integrity and financial
controls. It also maximizes business visibility hence ensuring compliance with the necessary
regulatory requirements.
