Situation Analysis and Problem Identification
Regardless of the academic discipline, all studies begin with a problem that anchors and justifies the purpose of the project. Without a clear, documented, and compelling problem, the project will be of little importance or utility to the field. The purpose of the Week 4 discussion is to use a literature matrix to explore potential project ideas that relate to a real-life business problem related to leadership, information systems, and marketing.
The business problem identifies the parameters of what will be investigated in the project. A simple definition of a problem is something to be fixed or something requiring corrective action. Another consideration is something that needs to be improved (or requires innovation). A problem is a form of adversity that has negative implications for the business.
