This research project will be about the portrayal of female lead Disney animated characters from the movies Sleeping Beauty (1959) and Frozen (2013) and looking at the comparison between the two movies and looking to see whether the female characters portrayed in these movies have become less gender stereo typical and it will be identifying any changes in the characteristics shown throughout the movies and to see whether there is any similarities or differences between them and also back it up with previous findings. It will then be evaluated where it can have an impact for future findings and it will also draw upon sociological theories and perspectives. The research will be desk based research which means it will be studying that data which has already been produced which will be the Disney movies thus providing secondary sources. The reason for this topic is that as it is Disney movies which are primarily aimed at a younger audience they are more likely to be socialised by the media and as the two films which are many years apart the aim is to see how they contrast in terms of their female lead characters and what impact that has on an audience.
