Next, reflect on opportunities that may exist for process improvement and cost reduction in the emergency department and how you would present them in a slide presentation. Then, think about the similarities and differences in rates of emergency room waste to national benchmark rates. Finally, consider three waste-reduction opportunities and what impact they have on the emergency department and quality.
Also, consider what stretch goals you might develop for leveraging cost- and waste-reduction opportunities. Next, reflect on a measurable stretch goal for the cost- and waste-reduction opportunities you identified at Piney Woods to improve process and quality, and reduce risk, waste, and cost.
For this Module Pre-Assessment, create a draft of your presentation on the opportunities for improvement at Piney Woods as your Final Assessment. Also, create a draft of your stretch goals report as your Final Assessment. Be sure to review the Final Assessment Instructions and include references to support the content of your drafts.

Next, think about how you would report the opportunities you identified and the rationale for targeting these areas. Finally, think about one recommendation you would make to improve each opportunity area you identified and how each recommendation would achieve the desired results.
Also, consider the organizational culture of accountability and quality excellence and why it will improve the patient experience and work environment at Piney Woods Hospital. Next, reflect on recommendations you could present in a slide presentation for how the leadership team can foster a culture of accountability and quality excellence in the emergency department. Finally, think about the challenges that may exist in fostering such a culture in the emergency department.
