Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to research ways one would reduce stress at
work. Both environmental and personal factors can lead to job stress. When job stress is added
to the stress that results from everyday living, it can be quite debilitating. Another purpose of this
assignment is to research ways of coping with stress.
• Skills: As a result of completing this assignment, you will practice written
communication. Create a stress relief program to help manage stress in your life.
• Knowledge: Students will gain knowledge how stress affects your work and personal
lives in the hospitality industry.
Task: In order to complete this assignment you will execute the following.
1. Identify 2-5 of your major causes of stress. Discuss the reasons (300-350 words).
2. How do you currently manage stress? Discussion should be 200-250 words.
3. Develop a program you would like to complete in order to relieve stress in your personal
life or work life. Your description should include:
a. Select one or more stress management techniques you will use to help overcome
the causes of your stress.
b. Describe the goals of the program.
c. Describe the time commitment (time/day or week of the program and how you
would incorporate it into your daily/weekly life’s schedule).
d. Describe the cost, and
e. Describe how this program will be successful for you.
f. This description should be a minimum of 3000 words.
4. You can use pictures, podcasts, videos, audio tapes, etc to support the planning of the
program.
a. For example if you are going to complete a workout regimen – then describe the
warm up routine, exercises, # of reps, stretches and cool down.
b. Include graphics of the exercises.
5. Use at least three (3) different references to support your description of the stress
program. These references can be from websites, journal articles, magazine articles, or
brochures.
6. This assignment can be posted as a powerpoint or prezi with audio, a youtube video, or a
word document.
