What is your role as a healthcare team member?
1. My role as a healthcare team member is a Trauma Nurse.
How do you define professionalism and how does professional responsibility influence your
work?
2.
Professionalism as I define it is the attitude and behaviors of a person. Commitment,
confidence, responsibility, and honesty are some characteristics of professionalism. It also
applies to the workplace’s environment. As a nurse, my main and prioritized responsibility is
providing my patients quality care. As their advocate, I have to stand up for them.
Do you consider leaders in your organization stewards of health care? Why or Why not?
3.
Yes. The leaders in my organization show true stewardship. In a clinical workplace,
stewardship is providing patients with the best care available. Not only do the leaders focus on
the patients, but they are also advocating for other nurses. They show compassion.
Is it important to you that leaders exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as
power and influence when working with colleagues? Why or why not?
4.
I think it is important because leaders should be able to show these in order to teach the
team. Leaders are practically role models for everyone, so whatever they do should be shadowed.
Leaders should not overdo their power. Leading is not all about controlling and bossing people
around. Effective leaders are able to blend these two together. Authentic leaders are honest,
which is good to see. The team trusts an authentic leader more.
