1. According to Nazar and colleagues (2015), the study depicts that a lack of knowledge and
illiteracy is a great challenge to effective health education. They point out that regardless
of a country is being developed or not, a lack of knowledge on the disease poses a
significant challenge to the overall population. Nazar’s team used a variety of sources
through PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and some open access journals.
2. Nazar et al. (2015) contextualized the topic by carefully looking at the research that was
carried out to investigate the prevalence of diabetes mellitus, specifically in England.
3. Nazar’s team was able to compile data from different surveys to effectively conclude that
better diabetic education on the issue at hand can aid in minimizing the chances of
individuals developing diabetes complications.
4. Having read the texts by the researchers, they have helped me visualize the real facts and
statistics attributing to the spread and prevention measures that can actively be carried out
to help curb the disease, including acquiring education on the illness beforehand.
5. Meeting face to face with Nazar, I would ask him the following questions. Is type 2 diabetes
curable? What are some of the causes of insulin resistance? What are some of the crucial
recommendations that should be given to a diabetic person? These questions aid in
providing a better overview of creating awareness to the public.

6. Having read the text, increasing awareness of the disease to the general public may aid in
fighting diabetes in developing countries such as those in Asia. Observation of certain
practices such as the passing of educational information to individuals during seminars has
influenced the conclusion that educating people on diabetes can help in fighting the disease
in developed and developing countries.

1.
Murray and colleagues (2004) take a position that it is a matter of lifestyle habits such
as poor nutrition and, to some extent, hygiene and genes that result in diabetes. Murray
et al. (2004) agree with Nazar et al. (2015) that regardless of the country, lack of
knowledge is a significant challenge. Murray and his colleagues used data from the
WHO database. Comparing this with the study by Nazar and colleagues, there is no
area of overlap in studies as both researchers did not base any publication on the same
research data
2. Murray’s team contextualized the topic by focusing on the number of deaths and
prevalence that has been attributed to diabetes in the year 2000. They are writing and
conducting the study within a targeted population to address the research question as
to the hand, which is determining if education helps in fighting against diabetes. They
performed a study on the Asian community.

3. Murray’s team was adequately able to obtain global statistics from a much larger
population and also offering urgent prevention measures such as weight-watching that
has proved beneficial in fighting the disease
4. The text by the researcher has helped me recognize the effective lifestyle measures in
preventing both type 1 and 2 diabetes, such as physical activities.
5. Upon meeting Murray, I would ask the following questions. Is there a link between
having irregular meal patterns and being at the risk of high blood pressure in association
with diabetes? Does having diabetes imply one cannot do specific jobs? Where can one
access information regarding diabetes? These questions may help in clarifying some
facts and myths associated with the disease and aid the public in having a better
overview of the lifestyle changes that need to be made to help fight diabetes.
6. Educating the public on healthy lifestyle measures such as engaging in physical
activities can also aid in fighting the disease.

Racism
Introduction
Racism is a misleading assumption that a certain race is inferior or superior to others
(Racism, 2020). For the longest time, possible people of color are seen as inferior in the United
States (Racism, 2020). Racism is when one person in society is less human just because they
have a different skin color (Racism, 2020). The misconception our community has is that race,
religion, or language define the superiority of an individual. The mentality led to the enslavement
of black people since the white-colored people saw them as instruments to use to achieve their
goals (Racism, 2020). The most common and famous example of racism in existence in the
world is slavery (Racism, 2020). The act of racism was invented by the western people and
continues to propelling in the current world. Slavery may not be as prevalent and accepted as
before, but still, the white race treats the people of color differently, as if they are inferior to
them.
Correcting Misinterpretation
Equality and human superiority are not defined and measured by either skin
color, language, birthplace, or language. The factor that should determine social advantage is the
advanced ability to think. Equality should be a narrative preached globally, and all people should
be considered equal (“The Most Damaging Myths about Slavery, Debunked,” 2020). The above
1
will also ensure peaceful coexistence among all members of the human race. We all hail from the
homo sapiens group, which means that we are all equal despite the diversity presented in
physical appearances. In another scenario, the people of color tend to suffer more from
healthcare problems and lack of access to proper medical healthcare. The suffering of the people
of color includes Slavery, police violence, lack of access to appropriate housing, and security
issues.
Additionally, there are theories that slavery was a choice, and slaves are responsible for
their misery. Slavery was a brutal act against humanity, where people of color were affected
(“The Most Damaging Myths about Slavery, Debunked,” 2020). The black Americans were
forced into a system of brutality and faced the constant fear of death, rape, and torture (“The
Most Damaging Myths about Slavery, Debunked,” 2020). Nobody wants to be living in such
conditions, and therefore, slavery cannot have been a choice.
Filing in the gap
The African American has a 60% more chance of diagnosis with diabetes than the white
person (“Diabetes and African Americans – The Office of Minority Health,” 2020). In 2017 the
estimation was that African Americans are twice likely to die from diabetes in comparison with
the non-Hispanic white person . Khan (2019) states that in 1000 black men, one boy or man is
likely to be killed by the police. It makes them 2.5 more times likely to lose their lives to police
in comparison to their white counteracts. He also explains that male Latinos men, the African
American women, and the Native American men are frequents victims of police brutality as
compared to their white peers (Khan, 2019). Police brutality has been acknowledged as the most
significant cause of deaths involving young men from 2013 to 2018 (Khan, 2019). Women with
black skin color are subject to die from police brutality 1.4 times, while Native American women
2
1.1 to 2.1 times likely to meet the same fate (Khan, 2019). Unarmed killings of the police are
mostly on the minorities in the U.S. below is a visual representation of police killings in the U.S.

Modifying what others have said
Some people have said that slavery was a choice for the black people, and they could
have resisted the arrest. The above statement is far from reality. Before Africans were taken
forcefully into slavery, they opposed the move. Many lost their lives, many tortured, and many
injured before they were placed in chains and escorted away. No one makes a free choice to
participate in any activity in that way. In a study conducted, people say that Trump has made
race relations worse. It is true because he propels for white supremacy, but even before, when the
other presidents were in office, racial issues weren’t addressed, and they were suppressed.
When a problem is contained and not dealt with, it resurfaces, which is what happened
with the Trump administration. 58% of white people and 84% of black people do agree that
3
slavery still influences the status of the black in the contemporary society. (Horowitz et al.,
2019). The above is true since they are still inferior to the white race and poorly treated with
most living in unsafe and abandoned conditions. 56% of all adults say that being black hinders
the ability of one excelling, and 51% say the same about Hispanics (Horowitz et al., 2019).
People of color have to struggle to get into places where white people can walk in. The people of
color have to fight and work twice as hard as their white peers to earn the same privileges as the
white race. Even then, they may not enjoy that luxury (Horowitz et al., 2019). The cases of
violence among civilians are severe to nearly 75% of the black population, as opposed to 20% of
the white population. The above is because black people are more pre-disposed to police
violence and therefore view the problem as extremely serious.
Views on the severity of police violence on the public
Nearly Half of the African American population is mistreated by police because of their race;
minorities are concerned about security about crime but are also skeptical about the police.
4
Below is a diagram illustrating the ability of civilians to trust law enforcement in dealing with
crime in the U.S.
Civilians trusting the police to do what’s right for them and their communities
Whites are found to be more trusting for police to do what’s right for them as opposed to
the non-whites. The above is because the non-white Americans tend to suffer more in the hands
of law enforcement.

Awareness of diabetes education
Diabetes has been one of the most dangerous, elusive, and complex medical conditions
that have ever existed in human history. Diabetes mellitus, as it is commonly referred to in the
medical fields, exists in three forms, which are Type 1, Type 2and gestational Diabetes.
However, the relief is that there is a way of controlling this medical condition. The injection of
insulin to the body of the affected person to regulate their body sugar and insulin levels is one of
the ways of controlling diabetes even though a cure for the medical condition has not been
established yet. Being diabetic calls for the shunning of certain foods and embracing a certain
diet and lifestyle to combat the medical condition. Diabetes Mellitus is a medical condition that
has a great impact all over the world, although studies have shown that most of the diabetic
patients are from the middle east and Africa (Nazar et al.,2015). This information shows one
thing, diabetes is a major challenge in developing countries, and a way of combating this disease
is needed.11 % of the adult population living in Africa and the middle east have been suffering
from diabetes. Serious and effective measures, therefore, have to be taken to contain the disease
since it has been proved to be genetically transferable (Nazar et al.,2015).
One of the most effective ways that can contain the disease in developing nations is
raising awareness of diabetes education. This method has been used in developed nations like the
US and has worked effectively, and therefore its implementation in tjh3 developing countries
would be of great aid and relief (Amoo & Raghupathi,2014). The measure of education
awareness of diabetes mellitus in combating the condition is effective since it involves the
precise identification of the genes that are involved in the development and the genetic transfer
of this complex medical condition. This information is used as an effective tool in the diagnosis,
therapy, medication, and counseling. A study carried out on the Nigerian space on diabetes has
proved that it is the lack of awareness and education on the disease that makes it fatal and not
negligence as most people believe (Amoo & Raghupathi,2014). The raising of awareness in the
African nation has seen cases of deaths caused by diabetes reduce, and both the patients and the
medical officers can contain the condition properly. People have superstitions about this
particular medical condition, and therefore raising awareness has been very helpful.
The lack of awareness has been noticed more in the uneducated group, while the
availability of awareness has been noted in the educated group. This has shown how the two
groups combat the disease (Amoo & Raghupathi,2014). The disease is in control for the educated
group that the uneducated group that lacks awareness. The WHO also supports that the lack of
awareness on diabetes has led to the worsening of the condition in developing nations. Especially
in Asia, where an estimated 60% of the population has been battling with diabetes (Murray,
2004). The lack of awareness has led to the making of poor lifestyle choices that have seen the
disease escalate. Rising of awareness makes people make wise decisions of lifestyles and
nutrition hence being an effective control methodology.

Selficity
Selficity (2020) uses a mix of quantitative, artistic and theoretic methods to study Selfie
styles in five cities: Sao Paulo, Berlin, New York, Bangkok and Moscow. Using data from
thousands of photos studied or investigated, Selficity has revealed some interesting patterns. For
instance, it has established that different demographics in each of the five cities studied have
different expressions and poses in the Selfies (Selficity, 2020). This is actually true because, for
instance, the way older adults would pose, smile, or tilt their heads in Selfies is expected to differ
from young persons would take selfies.

Pop vs Soda
According to the statistics, the Whitman county(Washington) prefers the word pop
over soda. The percentage of pop is 65.6% (The Pop vs. Soda Page, 2015) and soda is
29.61% (The Pop vs. Soda Page, 2015). This eventually shows the drastic change in the
percentages and the variation. Students prefer the term pop over soda in the campuses for soft
drinks. This maybe due to the variation of speaking between different countries around the
world. In the Eastern Washington, the trend for pop is higher than soda.
