An important component of job searching is researching target companies. In this process, you’ll gain an understanding
of what company information is helpful for networking and job interviews.
Conduct research to identify three companies or organizations who attended the Career and Internship Fair or in your
industry of interest, and answer questions below for each of them.
*Actual research is expected. We can tell the difference from real research or writing information based on general
knowledge. Points will be deducted for papers showing lack of effort.

RESOURCES & TIPS
Get to Know the Company – The company’s website is a great place to start.
• You should have an understanding of what the company does, its products/services, clients, etc. as well as the
basics of the organization, such as size, location(s), and history.
• Know the company’s strengths, its values, and what makes it special from its competitors – This information can
often be found through the company’s mission and vision statement.
• Tip: Select at least two things that make the company interesting to you.
Get to Know the People – Try using LinkedIn.
• Research the company’s employees and become familiar with the individuals that you are meeting with as well
as the “key players” of the organization, such as the CEO and upper level management.
• You might be able to find basic information on the staff page of the company’s website; however, reviewing
profiles on LinkedIn may provide you with more in-depth information.
• Tip: Use SNHU’s LinkedIn page to identify SNHU Alumni working at the company.
Become Familiar with the News – Start with Google.
• Discover if there are any recent articles or if the company has been in the news. This will help you to stay
current on any recent developments or changes with the company.
• Utilize social media to familiarize yourself with the company’s communication style and culture – Check out the
company’s Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram accounts if applicable.

Tip: Find at least one news article, press release, or recent development about the company that cannot be
found on the company’s website.
Consider Feedback from Outside Sources – Glassdoor.com is an interesting resource.
• Know the good and the bad – See what positive and negative things people have to say about the company by
reviewing any feedback that might be posted online.
• Tip: Glassdoor.com often provides inside details about the company that are cannot be found on the company’s
website, including the hiring process and interviewing tips.
