-This assignment is to be typed and should cover 1-2 pages per Topics, unless you are using a creative method to present the topic (see below). Please CITE ALL SOURCES -Answer each questions that address in each topic to received full credit. You may use whatever resources you would like to, but you must CITE them, otherwise it is plagiarism. -Topic 1: If you were to design a medication for high blood pressure, how would you design it? What system(s) would you target? How would this drug work on a biochemical level? Could it have multiple targets? What would be the potential side effects? (Be creative – this drug could target somewhere other than the CV system. Also, do not just list drugs that already exist by name.) Topic 2: When most people think of waste removal systems, they think of the digestive system. However, the renal, respiratory and circulatory systems are the true waste removal systems. Discuss the relative contributions to waste removal of these three systems, the waste products they remove and how they work together to keep the body free of toxic substances. Be sure to include the role of buffers in your answer. Topic 3: Homeostatic regulation of body systems occurs at three levels – local, neural, and hormonal. Often, similar end results are achieved by actions occurring at each of the three levels. What are some reasons for having multiple levels of regulation? Choose two systems and give a specific example of how these three levels of regulation operate in each system.
