For your term paper, you will be writing on the following topic:

The past several months has seen a discussion emerging surrounding “Defunding the Police”. Your assignment is to discuss and analyze that movement, and deconstruct the arguments for and against. You may take whichever viewpoint you wish. You will need to present your understanding of what “defund the police” means, what the arguments are within that movement, and then using RESEARCH, argue for or against some of those arguments. You will not be expected to analyze everything within this movement, so choose 2-3 main arguments that you wish to explore with your research. You will need to argue for your viewpoints using your research to support those arguments. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A FORMAL, ACADEMIC ESSAY. THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION OF YOUR PERSONAL OPINIONS, BUT RATHER, A WELL-INFORMED AND BALANCED EXAMINATION OF THE ISSUES FROM AN OBJECTIVE AND RESEARCH-BASED STANDPOINT.
