Proposal for Public Health Initiative
Introduction
In the United States, obesity has become a serious health problem where nearly 35% of Americans are struggling with obesity. Obesity is now considered a chronic disease by Medication Associations of America (Jastreboff et al., 2019). Obesity has severe impacts on a person’s metabolic, physical and psychological health. Overview of the Choosing Rewarding and Healthy Diet Initiative
This school program initiative will address adolescents obesity in one of the areas around Washington for underserved communities. An approach will involve a series of classes that discuss topics such as healthy cooking and physical activity (Ryan & Kahan, 2018). A review of the initiative program will address changes in increased fruits and vegetables consumption while reducing the number of hours of TV watching for most teenagers.
The rationale of the Choosing Rewarding and Healthy Diet (CRHD) Initiative
The program will engage teenagers and also reach the aging society through engaging proper diet observation. The program will be boosted by enhancing access to the pediatric department of the Nursing home. This will serve the technical capabilities for the obesity affected adolescents where prescribed diet for them will be projected—also engaging in them in voluntary weekly sports activities and exercise activities. Obesities recoveries will be helped to assimilate to new diets through peer obesity education support (Yang, & Colditz, 2015). The success of the program will help alleviate stigmatization associated with obesity in Washington DC’s communities. Through the program’s success, obesity for Washington DC’s adolescents will be decreased.
