Poster Project The purpose of this project is to create a poster to present the results of your literature search. Posters are a method of disseminating evidence with a relevant scientific community. Perform a literature search finding at least 2 articles that address your PICO question (MLO1 &2). You will be required to have a minimum of 8 articles (peer reviewed) by the end of the semester. Keep your articles organized by creating a literature matrix.

Poster Project
Description: The purpose of this project is to create a poster to present the results of your literature search. Posters are a method of disseminating evidence with a relevant scientific community. You will be creating and presenting these posters electronically to the class.
Your poster should include the following elements. These should be placed on your poster board in the following order from left to right, top to bottom starting with Background. Title and name can be placed on the center panel at the top:
Title of your project (Goes in middle section across the top, ideally)
Name (looks nice right under the project title)
Background
Briefly describe what the literature tells up about the problem (i.e. prevalence, negative consequences, etc). This can be in paragraph form.
Problem Statement
One sentence statement of the problem, the Mortality, Morbidities, and Money problems caused by this issue.
Purpose
Based on the problem and the background of the problem, what is the purpose of your project? Your purpose will be to address a piece of that bigger problem. (Ex: the big problem is nausea and vomiting in chemo patients leads to malnutrition and impaired healing and can ultimately cause death. Your project is to address which antiemetic works better to control nausea and vomiting).
PICOT Question
Your background led you to ask a clinical question. This is the PICOT question you developed earlier in the semester.
Methods
This section includes the databases used, search terms, inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, any techniques like the Boolean phrasing and truncations, data abstraction and synthesis (how do you organize and incorporate information from different articles).
Results
Report how many articles were retrieved initially, after reviewing them critiquing them for quality and fit, how many you ended up retaining for use in the final project. How many quantitative and qualitative studies or mix-method studies respectively.
What does the synthesized evidence indicate to answer your PICOT question? Use a minimum of 3 references that directly answer your PICOT question. These references should be from scholarly, reputable journals. Websites are generally not considered reputable sources so please avoid them. (These are the articles you gathered during the Modules on Quantitative and Qualitative evidence and critiqued using the Literature Matrix assignment. Through the appraisals, you should have a minimum of two articles already appraised and ready to synthesize here.
This section can be presented in bulleted format, a chart, or in a table all of which look nice and clean and organized. Remember, you want to let the audience know what you found out but make it readable for someone just looking at your poster.
Discussion
As you read through the literature and synthesized the results (put it all together), What did your evidence say? (This should be short, a few sentences). Make sure to acknowledge the limitations to your literature review (search challenge, possible bias, etc). This includes what was less than perfect about the research? Do these imperfections limit your ability to apply the results to your practice and base a recommendation on them? Limitations are to be expected and are not necessarily a reason to discard the research, but they should be acknowledged. Further, you can discuss surprise additional findings from the research articles that may not be the main interest in your original research questions.
Implications for Practice
Now that you know what the evidence says, how should this influence nursing practice? Should something change? If so, what should be the new way of doing things? Present and explain your recommendations succinctly.
It is always a nice touch to apply the Implications to the Nursing Process. What are the implications for assessments? For nursing actions like patient education or improved clinical practices?
References
All references from Background and Evidence sections should be present here, formatted according to APA guidelines.
You will be graded on this assignment according to the criteria presented in the rubric posted in Canvas.
Additionally, presenting the poster is required in order to receive points for this project. Please make arrangements as needed.
