Argument Paper responding to the prompt below in accordance with the Army writing style (Chicag/Turabian Style) and additional provided guidelines.
TOPIC: Subordinate Leader Development: Identify 1 area of weakness in U.S. Army subordinate leader development programs, and argue for 3 methods of improving upon that weakness. Consider how to implement them, needed costs/resources, and potential counter-arguments. Read Col. (Ret.) Frank Wenzel’s “Developing Leaders,” published in Military Review, dtd. July-August 2015, for context and inspiration.
For each topic, think of your recommended improvements as courses of action; consider feasibility and acceptability per FM 6-0. The paper must be 2-4 pages plus endnotes and a bibliography (citing at least 2 sources in both the endnotes and bibliography) in Chicago/Turabian style. Additional research to assigned readings is encouraged but not required. Provide concrete evidence to support your claims.
Must use the following sources and can add more based on your research. Sources do not have to be scholarly but should be reliable, like department of the Army sources.
Sources You will need to use:
• Mentioned above, Col Ret. Frank Wenzel’s “Developing Leaders”.
• Army Doctrine Reference Publication 6-22 (ADRP 6-22) Army Leadership
• Field Manual 6-22 (FM 6-22) Army Leadership
• ADRP 7-0: Training, units and developing leaders
• You can google both, but I will try to attach if file is not too big.
I will attach is an example of a student’s paper. Use it for inspiration but please do not plagiarize. You can use the sources the student used if you find it helpful. Paper must have bibliography and endnotes as the example provided. The example paper has a rubric attached that the teacher will use to grade. Please follow it. Make sure to read the article by COL Wenzel since he mentions some great points that could be used on the paper.
